ネッカー渓谷からフランケンの高地まで、507 kmにわたり370以上の城、廃墟、要塞が、マンハイムからハイデルベルク、タウバー渓谷の中世の町ローテンブルク、そしてワーグナーの街バイロイトへと続くBurgenstrasseに沿って点在しています。ヨーロッパでこれほど中世の要塞が密集している道路はありません。

- Mannheim
街路が名前ではなく座標のグリッドで設計された、計画的に造られたバロック都市。マンハイム宮殿は、ヴェルサイユに次いでドイツ最大のバロック宮殿です。
- Heidelberg Castle
ドイツで最も訪問者の多い廃墟：ネッカー川の上にそびえるゴシックとルネサンス様式の宮殿翼で、1693年に破壊されました。地下室には221,726リットルの世界最大のワイン樽があります。
- Bad Wimpfen
