ボーデン湖からベルヒテスガーデンまで続く Deutsche Alpenstraße。アルゴイの酪農地帯、山上の湖を見下ろすノイシュヴァンシュタイン城、ドイツ最高峰 2,962m のツークシュピッツェ、バイエルンのアルプス湖ヴァルヒェン湖とキーム湖、そしてベルヒテスガーデン上方の鷲の巣を巡る、ドイツで最も壮観な山岳ドライブです。

- Lindau
ボーデン湖に浮かぶ中世の島町で、バイエルンの獅子像と灯台が港を守っています。対岸にはスイスとオーストリアの両方が見えます。
- Oberstdorf
ドイツ最南端の町で、アルゴイ・アルプスの奥深くにあり、酪農の草原と標高2,500mを超える峰々に囲まれています。ネーベルホルンのロープウェイは谷の上2,224mまで達します。
- Neuschwanstein
1869年に着工したルートヴィヒ2世の夢物語のロマネスク様式の城で、アルプ湖の上に建っています。完成前の1886年に謎の死を遂げ、ディズニーの『眠れる森の美女』の城の着想源になりました。
- Garmisch-Partenkirchen
ツークシュピッツェ（2,962m）の麓にあるドイツのウィンタースポーツの中心地で、1936年冬季オリンピックの開催地です。ドイツ最高峰へ向かう登山鉄道はこの町から出発します。
- Walchensee
標高802mにある深いターコイズ色のアルプス湖で、バイエルンで最も美しい湖のひとつです。北岸のすぐ上にヘルツォークシュタント（1,731m）がそびえ、驚くほど澄んだ水が広がります。
- Chiemsee
バイエルン最大の湖で、ルートヴィヒ2世が未完成に終わったヴェルサイユ宮殿の模倣、ヘレンキームゼー島宮殿があります。晴れた日にはアルプスが壮大なパノラマの背景になります。
- Berchtesgaden
鷲の巣は、ナチスのオーバーザルツベルク施設の上、標高1,834mに位置します。下方のキーム湖は、切り立った崖の壁の下を、電気船のみが行き来しています。
