- Paro
ブータンで最も風光明媚な谷で、Rinpung Dzongが川の上に金色に輝きます。空港を挟む5,000mの峰々は、世界でも最も難易度の高い着陸のひとつに数えられます。
- Tiger's Nest
Paro Taktsangは900mの断崖に張り付くように建っています。グル・リンポチェは8世紀にここで瞑想しました。今もブータンで最も神聖な場所です。
- Thimphu
世界で唯一、信号機のない首都。51mのBuddha Dordenma像が、街の上の森の尾根から谷を見守っています。
- Dochula Pass
108基の記念チョルテンが並ぶ3,100mの峠。晴れた日には、ブータン・ヒマラヤのパノラマに7,570mのGangkhar Puensumも望めます。
- Punakha Dzong
1637年にPho Chhu川とMo Chhu川の合流点に建てられました。白壁の要塞は、ターコイズ色の氷河水から直接そびえ立っています。
- Trongsa Dzong
王家の祖先の居城として、何世紀にもわたり東西の通路を支配してきました。要塞は峡谷の上、山霧の中へ7階分も下っていきます。
- Bumthang
古いニンマ派の寺院とヤクの放牧地が広がる、ブータンの精神的な中心地。Jambay Lhakhang寺院は西暦659年創建で、ヒマラヤでも最古級の聖地のひとつです。
- Trashigang
川の峡谷の上にそびえる、遠隔の東部の首都で、崖の上にゾンがあります。先のMerak-Saktengの半遊牧民コミュニティへの玄関口です。
