福岡から鹿児島まで、九州で最もダイナミックな火山景観をたどるルートです。湯気を上げる火口、溶岩台地、温泉の町をつなぎながら進みます。見どころは、阿蘇山の広大なカルデラ、風光明媚な由布院盆地、そして桜島へ向かうフェリーの航路で、活発な火山景観が鹿児島湾のすぐ上にそびえ立ちます。

- Fukuoka Airport
福岡から出発。ここでルートはすぐに市街地を離れ、九州の火山地帯の中心へ向かいます。
- Yufuin Station
緑の丘と霧に包まれた稜線に囲まれた静かな温泉の町。山道へ入る前の、ゆったりとした最初の立ち寄り先です。
- Mount Aso Kusasenri
阿蘇の巨大なカルデラのそばに広がる草原を歩きます。噴気孔と開けた景色が、荒々しく生きているような風景をつくり出しています。

日本でも最も活発な火山のひとつの近くに立ち、湾の上を流れる火山灰の雲を眺めます。展示では桜島とともにある日々の暮らしが紹介されています。
- Kagoshima Chuo Station
水の向こうに火山がそびえ、その下で街がにぎわう鹿児島で締めくくります。ルートの締めにふさわしい終点です。
