تكوّنت في نهاية العصر الجليدي وكانت وجهةً للعطلات منذ العصر الروماني. قصور جزر Borromean في Lake Maggiore، وعبّارة العبور عبر البحيرة إلى Laveno، ثم Lake Como، نداء نجوم هوليوود، الممتد من عاصمة الحرير Como إلى لسان Bellagio المثالي وما بعده إلى Bergamo.

يمر المسار عبر طرق مزدحمة بمحاذاة البحيرات وعبّارات وبعض المقتربات الشديدة الانحدار، لذا خصّص وقتًا إضافيًا في الصيف وعطلات نهاية الأسبوع. قد تتأثر العبّارات عبر Lake Maggiore وLake Como بالطقس والجداول الزمنية، كما أن مواقف السيارات ذات الخلوص المنخفض شائعة في المراكز التاريخية.
