Savannah Wayは、ケアンズからブルームまでオーストラリア北部の熱帯地域を結び、国内でも特に人里離れた地域を縦断します。長く整備された舗装路に、孤立したハイウェイ、赤土の迂回路、牧畜地帯、湾岸の湿地、渓谷地帯、そして定番のアウトバックの町が織り交ざり、オーストラリア屈指の大陸横断ドライブを楽しめます。

- Cairns
緑が多く、蒸し暑い海岸線が広がる熱帯のケアンズから出発し、北と西への長い旅に備えます。
- Undara Volcanic National Park
古代の溶岩流の周囲にある溶岩洞と開けたサバンナを歩きます。海岸を離れると、すぐに人里離れた雰囲気になります。
- Karumba
大きな空と塩水の夕日が広がる、ゆったりした港町で湾岸に到着します。エビとバラマンディの産地へ向かう定番の寄り道です。
- Burketown
砂埃の舞う道、川沿いの平地、強いフロンティア精神が残る小さな湾岸の前哨地です。NT への長い区間の前にひと息つくのに良い場所です。
- Katherine
温かく実用的なハイウェイの町を通って Top End に入ります。渓谷、温泉、燃料補給の拠点です。
- Nitmiluk National Park
そびえ立つ砂岩の渓谷壁と、その間を蛇行する Katherine River を眺めます。ボートクルーズや散策が、このルートの見どころのひとつにしています。
- Tennant Creek
長く何もない区間の真ん中にある、荒々しくサービス施設の多いアウトバックの町です。北部と南の内陸部の間で重要な給油ポイントです。
- Daly Waters
古いパブは、本物のアウトバック感が味わえる有名なロードサイドの立ち寄りスポットです。西へ進む前の思い出に残る休憩地点です。
- Kununurra
WA に入って、赤土から灌漑地帯と広い水辺の景色へと変わります。ここがキンバリー区間への玄関口です。
- Broome
ブルームのインド洋で旅を締めくくります。真珠の町としての歴史と、熱帯のビーチの夕日が出会う場所です。長い内陸の旅は、潮風とゆったりした時間で終わります。

A classic Kimberley stop in Kununurra for hearty meals and road trip fuel. It is an easy place to unwind after a long day on the highway.
- Matso's Broome BreweryAustralian pub food
A Broome favorite for drinks and casual meals with a tropical feel. It is a good final celebratory stop on arrival.

- Barron Gorge National Parknature
See rainforest, waterfalls, and steep gorge scenery just inland from Cairns. It is an easy first taste of Far North Queensland.
- Undara Lava Tubesgeology
Explore huge lava tube caves created by an ancient eruption. The formations are one of the route's most unusual sights.
- Katherine Hot Springsswimming
Soak in warm clear pools close to town after the long drive. It is a simple but perfect Top End stop.
- Nitmiluk Gorge Cruiseboat tour
Cruise through the sandstone gorges and spot rock walls glowing in the late light. It is one of the signature experiences on the Savannah Way.
- Cable Beachbeach
Walk the wide sand at sunset and watch the sky turn gold over the Indian Ocean. It is a fitting end to the cross-country drive.

これは非常に長いアウトバック・ルートで、Northern Territory と西クイーンズランドでは給油間隔が非常に長くなります。予備の水を持ち、雨の後は道路状況を確認し、洪水で数日間通行止めになることがある雨季は避けてください。
